Hexham Photographic Society offers members the opportunity of taking part in competitions both within the club and by representing the club regionally as well as nationally. Taking part in competitions is one way members can receive and learn from constructive feedback on prints or digital images whilst hopefully gaining some recognition of their work.
The society’s competitions are organised and coordinated by two Competitions Secretary’s:-
Internal Competitions Secretary - David Theobald
As internal competitions secretary I am responsible for both the normal print competitions and I now also run the PDI competitions established last year after much work by Dave Best. I’ve been a member of Hexham Photographic Society for about 10 years but only been active since retiring 2 years ago from a busy life at sea as a Master Mariner. I’ve taken photographs since my childhood on various SLR’s but embraced the digital age of photography from its inception.
I presently shoot with Canon gear but have a (now old) Panasonic LX5 camera that can fit in my back pocket when fell walking. My main photographic interests are Landscape / Wildlife / with some City architecture / street when I get the chance.
External Competitions Secretary – Gerry Adcock
Having recently taken on the role of external Competitions Secretary, I hope to see the club become increasingly involved in external competitions, such as the southern area inter club competitions and those organised by the NCPF. I have been a member of Hexham Photographic Society for the last 3 years, but have experience within other clubs, I also Judge and Lecture on behalf of NCPF clubs. I presently serve on the executive of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF) holding the post of web-master.
My personal areas of photographic interests comprise mainly of studio/portraiture, travel/street and landscape.
