Welcome to Hexham & District Photographic Society

I'm Dave Strother, the Society President, a retired IT Professional, and a keen amature photographer for over 50 years.

Over the years I've developed a range of interests in photography from Aviation to Motorsport, Landscapes, Wildlife and Nature.

I joined Hexham Photographic Society in 2017 having relocated from Cheshire.

It's a great place to meet like-minded, friendly people with a range of interests, whose willingness to share knowledge and experience has assisted me further develop my photographic skills.

Although the society has as objectives "the study & advancement of photography," I believe enjoying photography is the most important aim of the society.

For me, this is achieved by attending some of the many workshops and meetups, organised by members with the aim of getting out and about to put theory into practice by creating photos.

Should you have an interest in photography and think you want to join, do contact us and come along to a meeting.

You don't need to be the next Rankin, or have an extensive range of photographic equipment. Increasingly, members are obtaining great results using compact cameras or even their phones!

Why Not Join Us?

The society welcomes attendance from anyone with an interest or experience in photography at whatever level. Please check our syllabus page for the details of where and when our next meeting is taking place.

When we meet.

The Society normally meets every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm between September and April, the majority of regular meetings take place in the Torch Center which is fully adapted for disabled users.

Hexham Photographic Society normally meets every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm in the Torch Centre - Corbridge Road, Hexham NE46 1QS between September and April.

Parking

Parking is available at the Loosing Hill public car park, next to the bus station, this contains 50 spaces. Currently, this car park is limited to 3 hours and is “free” with the use of a £1 Northumberland parking disc.

Limited free parking, including three disabled bays, is available at the Torch Center, which is immediately adjacent to Loosing Hill public car park.

A Thrilling Finale: The First-Ever Brannigan Trophy Knockout Contest

On Tuesday, 22nd April, Hexham Photographic Society proudly hosted the grand final of the inaugural Brannigan Trophy knockout contest, a season-long competition that has captivated members with four intense and highly entertaining rounds.
