1st Place - Reflections By Barry Turnbull

Feedback:
- I liked the colour balance and movement in the river
- Reflections, A well seen image. I enjoyed the Purple intermingle
- Lovely reflections and the purple stripe adds life.
- Great images of the bridges at night The colours particularly make the shot
- I like the fact that the photographer has chosen not to include the whole bridge, but to focus on the pattern created by the light and the reflection of the light on the water.
- Another popular subject but captured here at the blue hour which enhances the play of light on the water and frames the Glasshouse. The seated figure provides a subtle sense of scale and the exposure has been very well handled.
- Love the bright colour in this reflective shot.
- Photographed a million times but this one is different.
2nd Place - Play That Thing By David Best

Feedback:
- The expression in the face, stance of the musician and the ballsy way the instrument is held transmits the energy of the gig. It's all sharp with lots of details to look at. Monochrome choice works well
- An excellent capture of a musician who is in the moment.
- Lovely mono image. Image must have been taken in low light, but despite this there is no noise at all, and it is pin sharp. Well done to the author for a great capture.
- Excellent use of monochrome to capture the power and passion of the player.
- Tight framing is just right and combined with the musician's expression and mono presentation all emphasise the intensity of the moment.
- Great action and concentration, superbly caught. Stands out well from background.
3rd Place - Dunstanburgh By Barry Turnbull
Scored: 11 Points & 5 Like(s)
Feedback:
- Great depth and clarity to the picture and water and castle beautifully shown.
- Lovely clarity to this classic Dunstanburgh landscape, I particularly like the definition of the foreground rocks and the placement of the castle in the frame is perfect, balanced visually by the crashing wave to the right.
- Dunstanburgh Castle and the foreground are in sharp focus under a changing sky. The wave breaking over the rocky shoreline in the low evening light sets the scene for this ruined castle.
- Difficult to take a bad photograph of this I know but look at the colours, the textures, the surf, the light.
- A very nice landscape capture of Dunstanburgh with a balance of sea and land.
4th Place - Out at first light By Barbara Austin
Scored: 9 Points & 0 Like(s)
Feedback:
- I so identified with this image a touch of been there and done that. The atmosphere the image displays and the effect of early morning light captures the mood of the picture. Good lead in with the tree lined track
- A simple scene which pulls you into the quad bike as a key feature and which gives a feeling of being cold
- Lovely tones in this image. It really conveys the time of day and the warmer out early
- Some fantastic atmosphere has been captured here as the vehicle whips up the snow into the early morning light.
- Love the atmosphere on this one. Lighting is excellent and tractor well shown in silhouette.
- Lovely light picking out the farmer, dog and fine snow from the wheels. Lead in line of the road to the quad bike makes a powerful draw to the focus of the photo
5th Place - Mirror lake By Duncan Burridge
Scored: 5 Points & 1 Like(s)
Feedback:
- This image is almost monochrome in its shades of blue-grey, portraying a calm mood, yet interestingly their is a breeze, as we look closer we see the mirror calm is not total.
- I loved the simplicity of this image and the very simple colour pallette creates the atmosphere. Title emphasises the reflections created on the lake even on an overcast day.
- Almost all the image is of the sky, thanks to that amazing reflection. Love the cool colour pallet.
HC - Bamburgh castle By Valerie Johnston
Scored: 4 Points & 2 Like(s)
Feedback:
- Lovely landscape of Bamburgh Castle. I like the way the castle is sitting in the centre of the frame. Lovely muted colours set the image off.
- The people within the photo contrasting with the size of the castle
- Another simple, atmospheric image. I assume by the light it was taken in the evening and they have caught the light on the castle itself so well.
HC - Hummingbird Hawkmoth By Angus Reid
Scored: 3 Points & 4 Like(s)
Feedback:
- Excellent detail in the moth with the slight blurring of the wings emphasising how fast they move. Perhaps could eliminate the flower top right.
- Always envious of natural history shots like this. Although the colours are a little muted that moth has been well captured, with good control over the depth of field. Not too keen on the background but it does not intrude too much visually.

Apple Car By Stephen Smith

Feedback:
- Lovely panned shot of the racing car. The bright colours really set it off, they compliment the colours in the background.
- Great penny in this image. It's a difficult skill to master - particularly as the shutter speed is low enough to still see the wheel rotation
- Car nicely positioned in the image and good indication of high speed, with the car sharp and colourful against the panned background.

- The beautiful pink, detailed plumage of he pelicans set against the warm green of the foilage is very striking. The capture of the 3rd pelican staring at the egret adds extra interest

Feedback:
- There is a sense of risk about this image, in that the woman leans out to get a better portrait composition of birds on the cliff and sea, visible on her screen, yet she could so easily drop her smartphone over the side of the boat.
