Closure for the remainder of the season

Hexham Abbey

In light of the rapidly changing situation with regard to the spread of the coronavirus and the most recent government advice, Hexham & District Photographic Society has decided to suspend the programme for the rest of the season, including tonight’s meeting at the Torch Centre.  We will therefore postpone the AGM and the Society Awards night until the beginning of next season in September if circumstances have improved sufficiently.   We are currently considering running the Print of the Year Competition digitally so that the entries can be received and judged remotely, in order that we can complete this season’s competitions.  Please let me know if you have any objections to this course of action Read More …

3rd Print Competition Results 2019-2020

The 3rd Print Competition of the season was held on 4th February 2020 at the Torch Centre. The judge for the evening was Alan Porrett from Whitley Bay who had about 70 prints to get through. Externally Judged PDI – 7th Jan 2020

Our inaugural foray into an externally judged PDI competition took place on the 7th January 2020. Our judge for the evening was Malcolm Boyd from Castleside & District PC, where he is extremely busy as Treasurer and Secretary. Many thanks Malcolm for an entertaining evening at the Torch Centre, our first meeting of the new decade! Council Meeting January 8th 2020 Highlights

No formal annual exhibition will be held this year at the Abbey to reduce costs. We will focus our attention on publicity via the quarterly Hexham Courant Feature, exhibiting in shop windows via the Hexham Open Space Initiative and exhibiting at the Northumberland County Show.   A volunteer is urgently required to coordinate our participation in the Northumberland County Show starting in early February – please contact the President if you can help.   Dave and Kevin will develop next year’s agenda in order to transition the Syllabus Secretary duties from Rob.   The Society will sponsor the film Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters (2012) at this year’s Hexham Film Festival.   Competition Rules will be Read More …

Minutes of the last meeting were agreed as correct by SS.   AGENDA Workshops progress. The Landscape workshop should be completed Tuesday 19th November. The Sports workshop has now been completed.
