Tyne Rivers Trust is launching its third charity calendar and is asking for anyone who enjoys the river Tyne to submit their best photos of the Tyne catchment to fill it.
The theme is My Tyne so images can cover anything from people enjoying the river to wildlife to scenic shots, as long as it’s taken within the river Tyne catchment which stretches from Redesdale to Haltwhistle to Tynemouth.
A judging panel will pick the best 12 photos and the winners will receive a free copy of the glossy calendar displaying their winning photo. Last year Hexham Members Bob Turner and Barbara Austin both succeeded in having the images below selected for the calendar.
Hugo Remnant, Chairman of Tyne Rivers Trust says: “Our calendar is proving more popular by the year which is a great reflection of people’s affection for the river and all of the activities that take place along it.
“As the only environmental charity focused on the river Tyne and its catchment, the work that we do to improve water quality and river habitat is vital for a better river and a better region. Sales from our calendar go directly towards our work on the river.”
Martin Farrer who scooped both the front cover shot in 2017 and the month of July says the competition is open to everyone: “My Quayside picture was taken on my SLR with three photos merged in HDR software. In complete contrast my dog on the Tyne photo is a quick snap on my phone camera while I was fishing, so it just goes to show you don’t need posh kit to take a good photo,”
EGGER, the chipboard factory which sits alongside the River Tyne at Hexham has continued its support of Tyne Rivers Trust for the third year by covering the production costs of the calendar. Tobias Zimmermann, Plant Director Technical/Production at EGGER says: “ We are delighted to support the ongoing work of Tyne Rivers Trust. Their continued focus on sustainability, is a good fit with our environmental commitment at EGGER.”
To enter, email up to two photos, 3mb in size to: [email protected]. Photos should be labelled with your full name and where they were taken. Please also include your address and telephone number in the email.
The closing date for entries is 31 May 2018 and the calendar will be available to buy from July from the Tyne Rivers Trust website and shops around the Tyne Catchment
