Dog Show Assignment May 2016

A small group of around five photographers met up just before lunch back on the 1st May at Verity’s farm in Horsley. The show proved to be an ideal opportunity for members to practise a number of photographic techniques and produce a range of work including documentary, candid and action shots of dogs racing…   The day kicked off in the show rings before lunch. Lunchtime was a good opportunity for some candid’s and portraiture, after lunch the racing events took place.   Thanks to everyone who attended and produced images for the web and prints for the assignment night on the 2nd November.

2nd DPI Competition “Close Up”

The theme for the next DPI competition is ‘Close Up’.  We are not going to be too strict about the definition of close up – normally it would, I think, be deemed to be a subject reproduced on your camera’s sensor at measured as a ratio of life size as 1:1 or greater. But use your own judgement to determine if you think your entry is a close up image. If the judges (i.e. yourselves) don’t think that the image qualifies as a close up then they probably wont select it. So I leave it up to your discretion.   You can’t upload your entries via the website as I need to moderate them prior to posting Read More …
