Calling all eagle-eyed photographers! Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership are looking to produce a calendar for 2018 to showcase the diversity and beauty of the landscape and stations along the line. We’re inviting budding amateur photographers to capture and submit images of their local station and the line. The subject for the competition is “My Local Station in the Community.” The theme is open to individual interpretation but entries must have the Tyne Valley railway line at their heart. You might choose to depict the railway station in question, focus on a notable element of the station (a footbridge, signalbox etc.), or closely related landscapes. Our last Print Competition of the season – ‘Print of the Year’ was held at the Torch Centre on Tuesday 11th April 2017. We had an excellent entry this year with 52 prints in total! Thanks goes to our judge for the evening – Tony Potter GMPSA ARPS EFIAP APSA from West Cumbria. The results of the second Projected Digital Image competition are in. The subject was “close up” and attracted a total of 53 images entered by 28 photographers. The competition was judged by our own membership and attracted 38 judges in total! The South Tyne area DPI competition took place on the 10th November 2016 at Gateshead Camera Club and was judged by Jim Welsh LRPS CPAGB. Hexham placed 2nd of the 6 clubs that took part this year scoring a total of 256 points. The South Tyne Area PDI Competition is being hosted this year by Gateshead Camera Club and will be judged by Jim Welsh on Thursday the 10th November. Hexham’s entry includes images from Rob Halliburton, Chris McIlreavy, Geoff Chrisp, George Ledger, Graham Dixon and Danny Brannigan.
